7th inning stretch

In only 3 days I will be on spring break. I cannot even comprehend the speed with which this year has flown by. After spring break there are 5 weeks of school, after that point I will be a senior. Unbefrickenlievable! I am very busy these days with my numerous commitments. Tonight there are several things I need to get ready for the crusade meeting tomorrow night, I am responsible for a funny skit for the meeting some weeks, other weeks I just try to come up with any sort of humor element that will appease the masses. Soon I may be switching responsibilities again within the Campus Crusade movement here, well see what happens.

Dont foget that tomorrow night there will be some great entertainment streaming live from the campus radio station curtesy of DJ Timbly.

Here is some random linkage for all of you, I think I will make a point of finding some blogs or other site for my readers in each post. Here you are, the first link is a blog primarily about print design, but they offered a really timely and useful guide for web-designers who want to print business cards. Business cards can get expensive but are a neccessary part of doing business. Myself and my partners at Level 1 Media decided to print our own business cards last week in a laserjet on cardstock, they turned out pretty good for as easy as the process was.

Another interesting blog I uncovered is a nice little blog from a christian with some thoughts on various issues. I know that description is quite vague, but sometimes random blogs like this are a good time killer. And I really like the name of his blog.

The parents banquet for the fraternity went well and afterwords I got to hang out at a LAN party hosted by the one and only Aaron. I think his name would be a lot cooler with some more as in it, Aaaaron. Even without the extraneous vowels in his name he knows how to throw a sweet LAN party. In case you were wondering, Unreal Tournament 2004 is very sweet, but there is no reason to play any game-type other than Onslaught. This fact highlights the complete awesomeness of the game Tribes, and its ill fated successor Tribes 2. Gameplay involving huge open air environments and the use of vehicles is what makes a team based first person shooter truly magnificent. When the next game in the Tribes series emerges from the dark game development womb at Vivendi Universal I imagine there will be great rejoicing in the gamer world.

There is no feeling quite like stumbling out of a computer filled basement just before sunrise after a long night of intense competition, and intense caffination.

u too

The radio show Thursday night went well, in fact it was totally awesome. I had on two guys from St. Louis, they didnt drive all the way here just to be on timblys radio show though. They were brothers, Tom Wehrle is a performer who was playing in the Union on friday night, and played some music for our weekly crusade meeting Thursday evening. Tom and his brother Jon were a lot of fun on the radio that night, we talked for a long time about pretty much nothing important, yet somehow it was entertaining.

Having guests on the radio makes the time go so much faster. And of course, the internet stream was fully operational. I checked the logs afterwords and I noticed two different IP addresses that I had never seen before, one originated from Rochester, NY. And the other was from Vancouver, in Canada! I dont personally know anyone in either of those places so its a little interesting to see my show spreading to all corners of the world.

Last night I went to dinner with some friend here and then enjoyed music from Tom at the student union, and also at another cofee house here in Kearney, where a friend was performing. Of course in this town the cofee places close at 11 so we were forced to fend for ourselves after that. Movie Night! Rush Hour is always an entertaining flick, you gotta love the double threat of Chris Tucker and Jacki Chan.

Today is the parents banquet for the fraternity, and my parents are in town. They fed me an awesome lunch and bought me some stuff at Wal-Mart. You gotta love the parents.

I am considering going to play some LAN games tonight with Aaron and Adam, but I dont want to catch anything from their diseased computers.

fear

A wise alien once said, Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hatred, and hatred leads to suffering.

I had feared that the stream for tonights show wouldnt be working but luckily at the clutch moment Aaron came through with the save. I am on at 10:00 tonight till 1 am. So listen in.

Join the chat, and check out my new site design at timbly.com. I should have more to say later. Sorry about my lack of rantage lately.

streaming static

Seriously, for now the live stream of my radio show is working properly. Listen In. Tonight from 10:00 to 1:00 am you will be able to hear my live radio show. Its been an interesting day, perhaps I will post a blog entry during the show. If you are listening in you can either call in a request at (308) 865-8217, or you can enter the chat room and chat with me live while I am on air. There may be more to this post later in the evening.

so close

so close and yet so utterly wrong

I thought I would be able to write something witty and entertaining tonight. I was wrong.

The Passion of the Christ is not just a film, it doesnt follow any of the format of a traditional film. Even worse its a film that people leave thinking that they never want to see it again. This is a peice of art that conveys an image, and idea, so vividly that it has the power to bring a person to their knees emotionally as well as physically.

Right now I actually feel sick to my stomach after seeing this movie. There was no person who left that theater tonight with anything on their minds except for the very real sacrafice of Jesus.

I cannot talk tonight, I cannot type tonight, my mind needs to work its way through this. I hope all see this movie.

easy is funner 4th Entry

Im sitting here at work again discussing life, the universe, and everything once again.

This afternoon I went buddy bowling for the house. This is a great program where we get a chance to go bowling with a group of mentally handycapped people. Each person gets their own buddy to bowl with once a week. My buddy Chad is actually quite good at bowling, and beat me soundly in the first round. The second round was s different story, but I cant really feel much pride for beating my buddy at bowling, especially when there was another buddy in a wheel chair who completely beat both of us at our lane.

This evening I work untill 8, and consists of cleaning more virii off student computers and obtaining the obligatory big pop from the kwik stop. Though, I am not actually getting a big pop anymore, I have been getting lemonade lately. Two weeks ago I gave up pop. Why? Because I felt like beginning to eat healthier, and loosing a couple pounds wont kill me. So, sadly I have not had any Mountain Dew in a long time, I am expecting Pepsi to declare bankruptcy soon from the revenue they are losing.

Tonight I will see The Passion. And I expect I will be up for quite a while afterwords. Hopefully you will get one more post before I go to sleep.

second minute - 2nd Post

One class down, 2 more to go. I was supposed to have a design assignment done for Typeography 1 today, but it doesnt really matter because my team isnt using my design for our final project anyways. I seriously lack motivation for the majority of classes I take in the art department. If all my classes in this department could be like Computers and Design was, then I would be a happy man. So I spent 2 hours surfing the web and looking at USB Card Reader Hard Drive combos for Mike. We are eventually going to be using an old fashioned metal print press for this class, watching another group use this press really makes me appreciate computers and laser-jet printers. I am a geek, I embrace new technologies immediately and scorn methods and objects that seem old fashioned to me, like pens and paper. It probably doesnt help matters that this class is around priority level 16 for me. Up next, a quick lunch and newswriting class.

greeaat!

I got this link from PvP but I couldnt stop laughing for quite a while after seeing this commercial. This commercial never actually aired, it was just made to show off the talents of this place. Do yourself a favor and watch this thing and then watch the rest of the commercials on the site too, all of them are really funny. Apperantly you can feel great too, just by eating Nutrigrain bars.

I hope this movie gets spread around a bunch and becomes the next big meme.

heres my excuse

I know that many wished to listen to my live radio show last thursday night. I also know that noone was able to listen in last thursday night unless they did it the old fashioned way, with a radio. The reasons for this are not fully known, but something went wrong with the server after we left the room it was in. I expected to be able to get the server back up and running from the studio computer. Unfortunately this was not the case, restrictions in effect on that computer prevented me from carrying out any remote administration. This issue should be resolved for this weeks show. I hope you all give it another shot this week.

Money is an interesting concept. Though my grade in economics class was far from wonderful I did in fact take economics. I thought I had learned about finances and the manageing of them, yet sometimes it takes a hard slap in the face by reality to make you realize the fluidic nature of money. Like so much skim milk, funds slip through my fingers and dribble down the drain of pointless purchases. Now I have to deal with my financial incompetence, and it isnt pretty.

My budget for the week barely has enough room to allow me to attend the opening night of The Passion of the Christ. And I cannot wait to see this movie, my respect for Mel Gibson as an actor was once based upon movies like Braveheart, The Patriot, Signs, and yes, even Mad Max. Now I have a whole new level of respect for his own passion and commitment to what he believes in. Whether or not you agree with what he has done or what this movie tells, you must recognize the power of the commitment to his beliefs. Through all the TV appearances and interviews that I have seen with Mel Gibson I have been thoroughly impressed by his poise and strength of character when under fire from those who seek to halt his movie in its tracks.

This movie is going to be big, very big, I have heard many people around campus talking about it and discussing how soon they will be able to go see it. I personally am going with a group of over 30 people Wednesday night. I hope that many people get a chance to go watch this film, I expect a very powerful film.

P.S. Always preview before publishing a blog entry, that way you can catch obvious mistakes such as misspellings in the title. I dunno, Im tarded.

Cluegle

Where have I been, and where am I going. Good questions, Im glad you asked. I have been all around the region with my radio show. Where am I going? Worldwide Baby!!!

That is correct, not only did I stream last weeks radio show over the net from dongle, but word spread quickly and several friends from far away tuned in for the show. I think I am the first DJ at my campus radio station to get a request from Orange City, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. For those of you not in the know, I have a show from 10 PM to 1 AM every Thursday night. I like to have guests come in and play some guitar or just hang out usually. I try not to talk too much, but you never know when I might get caught up on some editorial tangent between songs. If you are by a computer thursday evenings feel free to listen.

V-Day weekend was very fun for me and my favorite girl, Becca. Not victory day, Valentines Day. Or, as my roomate likes to call it, Singles Awareness Day.

Memes are everywhere. It is mildly interesting to watch the rise and fall in popularity of certain products. Disturbing and annoying memes like reality TV are very large scale and quite obvious. Yet, there are fads which are just as pervasive in society but do not get as much attention. For instance, the Nalgene water bottle has attained an ubiquitous level of popularity in our society, or at least the society that I am exposed to. I see many of my peers with these water bottles and I myself have one. The Nalgene bottle has become as much of a symbol of personal identity as Fossil watches and Oakley sunglasses for a portion of this generation. I first heard about these water bottles from Becca, and she gave me a purplish/blueish one as a christmas gift 2 years ago. Before that I had never heard of them, then all of a sudden, last summer everyone had one. The popularity of this product grew swiftly and quietly. The craziest part about the entire phenomenon is that the product is so dirt simple. A water bottle that is nearly indestructible and made from translucent colored plastic. The simplicity of this product is likely the reason for its wide based popularity.

Speaking of the strengths of simplicity, all of you who have any uncertainty of what the internet is, or more specifically what it is not, should read this article. I found it very enlightening for the way it puts into words a concept that is continually abstracted by all who claim the right to expound upon it.

Live Radio

All you out there who want to listen to me live on the radio are now in luck. Listen Live to me at 10:00 PM Central time every thursday night. The stream is for Windows Media Player 9 for now. An mp3 stream should be available for upcoming weeks. I hope you can tolerate some of my show, in all its staticy glory.

DTOTD #1

Deep thought of the day, Issue #1. This is not a complete post, this is simply something that struck me before going to bed a few minutes ago.

I place more of my faith in myself than I do in God, and my faith in myself is on shakier ground every day.
